India in The Millenium Year

Step into the Millennium year

Open your senses; eyes and ears.

It's time to realize 

The dreams of Indians

Who had worked for Independence

And fought for millions

Who had lost their families and lost their lives

Who had worked day and night on the bed of knives.

Stop caste-system, stop deforestation,

Stop over-population, stop pollution!

It is time to show the world,

Tthat India is a power and Indians are back.

They have gained the the qualities,

Which they used to lack

It's time to get united and work for the nation.

It's time to stop worrying for selfish gains,

Which ruin our country's fame.

Education, health and food for every one

Should be our goals and love and peace

be in our souls.

Live and let live be our motto,

To serve the humanity in toto

So let my country awake.

This is my new millennium wish.

I wrote this more than a decade back. This isn't exactly what i wrote, I picked it up from my school magazine where they had edited few lines before publishing. Though I can not exactly remember the original lines, but still the edited version does not deviate a lot from the original.
